FAQs
What should my baby wear?
We operate a double nappy system. A disposable nappy plus a swim nappy cover - available from Boots. You can also order these items from Aqua-Vie at a cost of £9 or £10 for neoprene nappy covers. Alternatively if you buy a our splashabout soft neoprene wetsuits £22 or £25 the nappy cover is built in and prevents baby getting cold.
Is the pool warm?
Most classes are held in hydrotherapy pools as it is essential not to allow young babies to swim in temperatures below 33 degrees c. Also young babies do not shiver and therefore it may not be immediately apparent they are cold. It is important that babies do not lose their core body temperature. You can purchase a suitable wetsuit from us as pictured. Some babies feel the cold more than others.
Will my baby swim?
We do show you how to submerge your baby safely if you wish to do so.
Babies retain their memory of being in water in the womb for up to 6 months, this is an easier and safe time to allow your baby to submerge - babies can swim underwater.
How large are the classes?
Class size depends on the size of the pool we use and the ages of the babies. All classes are small.
